Elliott Bay Design Group is ready to support our clients beyond the traditional naval architecture and marine engineering services. Our staff’s broad expertise includes former mariners, shipyard superintendents and regulatory inspectors who are experts at transferring designs from paper to reality at the best price for our clients. Some owners utilize EBDG to oversee dry dockings, overhauls and repairs to their vessels, counting on us as an economical, short-term extension of their own staff. Others recognize the added value of having the same responsible, responsive engineering group that develops the Plans, Specifications and Estimates oversee their implementation in the shipyard. On-site engineering detail development, clarification of intent to the contractor, quick resolution of unexpected problems, regulatory liaison, quality assurance, and change order negotiation are just a few of the things EBDG’s construction liaison representatives routinely do to help the owner get the job done quickly, properly and on budget. We also routinely conduct feasibility studies, provide bid review and support, offer model testing supervision, and participate in sea trials and delivery support.

At EBDG, we encourage responsible practices that conserve energy, reduce waste and minimize pollution. To that end we identify and evaluate, through sound engineering principles, advancements in environmental technology, approach and process. Those practices that are determined to be practical in service and are cost neutral or provide cost reduction will be adopted in our designs.
