MARINE ENGINEERING
Since the inception of Elliott Bay Design Group in 1987, we
have gained a reputation for providing an appropriate level of
sophistication and detail to our marine engineering products. To
provide designs that truly work as intended aboard vessel requires
an intimate understanding of vessel operations, an understanding
that can only be acquired from having operated and installed the
systems.
The engineers in our marine and electrical engineering group all
have gained experience aboard ship and working in shipyards prior to
coming to Elliott Bay Design Group; many are licensed ship operating
engineers as well as professional engineers.
Our "hands on" real world experience is applied to all of our marine
systems design work from feasibility studies and concept designs to
contract designs, detail designs and owners representation.
Our depth of experience extends to all shipboard mechanical,
electrical and piping systems, including HVAC systems, hydraulic
systems, propulsion installations, stabilizer systems, and rudder
and steering systems. Recent examples of the range of work we offer
include:

Repower design studies for conversion of a
coal fired steam reciprocating vessel to direct geared diesel
propulsion and a steam ship conversion to diesel electric
propulsion exceeding 30,000 SHP
