USFilter Skid

Scope of Work - In 2001, Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) was contracted by USFilter to perform a finite element stress analysis to optimize the structural sizes of a seawater filter skid unit and a custom lifting beam. The unit is installed on a Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO) which will produce the Bijupera & Salema field, in water depth ranging from 400 m to 870 m offshore Brazil.


The seawater filter skid supports three pressure vessels with associated mechanical outfit. A separate smaller skid base which supports the associated strainer system was also analyzed. The purpose of this stress analysis was to determine if the skid structural beams provide adequate strength to meet the specified strength criteria. A custom spreader beam was also designed for installing the seawater filter skid using similar methodology. The skid design and analysis was submitted to ABS for approval.
