LANEY CHOUEST

Scope of Work - Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) was contracted in early 2003 by North American Shipbuilding of Larose, LA, to support the delivery of the M/V LANEY CHOUEST. This steel anchor handling and towing supply vessel was designed by the owner Edison Chouest Offshore for deepwater offshore oil and gas support services. The LANEY CHOUEST is currently the largest and most powerful anchor handling and towing supply (AHTS) vessel in the world.

As part of EBDG's scope of work, we were tasked to design specialized lifting connections between the AHTS and two drydocks which were being used for transport to the Gulf of Mexico. EBDG performed complex finite element analysis to confirm the strength when transporting through shallow waterways. Results of the finite element analysis were reviewed by MSC New Orleans before the delivery tow was approved.
