EHIME MARU
Scope of Work - In 2001, Elliott Bay
Design Group (EBDG) was retained by Crowley Marine Services to
provide analysis support for the recovery and relocation of the
Japanese fishing vessel EHIME MARU. The 166' fisheries training
vessel sunk after a U.S. Navy submarine accidentally struck the
vessel during practice maneuvers. The vessel was initially relocated
from 2,000 feet of water off the Hawaiian island of Oahu to a
shallow water recovery site. EBDG's task was to perform mooring
response analysis of the EHIME MARU suspended from the CMC-450
barge, transported from the shallow water recovery site to the final
deep water relocation.
