Elliott Bay Design Group currently employs over 60
architects, engineers, designers and support personnel. The strength
of EBDG lies in the depth and experience of its staff. The core of
our skills resides with our senior engineers who are registered
Professional Engineers in the States of Washington, Oregon, Texas
and Louisiana. Our senior staff members are supported by bright and
innovative mid-level and entry-level engineers as well as some of
the most talented marine designers in the business today. The
combination of extensive hands-on experience in vessel operation and
a thorough working knowledge of shipyard construction practices
allows us to solve your marine-related engineering challenges.
EBDG's extensive analytic capabilities enable us to offer our
clients complete and integrated solutions.
In 2007, EBDG
became a subsidiary of American Commercial Lines. Today, EBDG is
managed by Joe Pritting who is supported by the firm's senior
management team.

Joseph V. Pritting
Vice President, General Manager
Mr.
Pritting joined EBDG as Finance Manager in 2000. In early 2009 he
was selected to serve as Vice President and General Manager
following the ownership transition of the firm. He holds a
Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in
accounting. His previous experience includes serving for 16 years as
controller of two multi-specialty medical clinics in Montana and
Washington. Mr. Pritting has worked with numerous federal, state and
municipal contracting authorities, as well as commercial clients.
As Vice President and
General Manager, Mr. Pritting is responsible for establishing the
company's strategic direction and ensuring that key objectives and
profitability goals are met. He oversees the day-to-day operations
of the Seattle and New Orleans offices. A key area of focus for Mr.
Pritting is to continue growing the business while remaining true to
the company's promise of providing innovative solutions,
uncompromising support and excellent customer satisfaction.
Brian W. King, P.E.
Vice President, Engineering
Mr. King received his B.S. in Marine Engineering from the U.S.
Merchant Marine Academy and is licensed and has sailed as Chief
Marine Engineer of Motor Vessels of any Horsepower. Mr. King is our
expert on major re-powering and ship modifications, passenger
ferries, and has extensive project management experience. He is a
licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Washington, Alaska,
Louisiana and Oregon.
Douglas M. Wolff, P.E.
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Wolff came to EBDG in 1992, bringing extensive project
management and shipyard experience to the firm. He earned his B.S.
from the Webb Institute in 1977, launching his career in the field
of naval architecture. His many talents and varied experience make
him our resident expert on workboats of all kinds including tugs,
research vessels, fireboats and fishing vessels. Mr. Wolff is a
registered Professional Engineer in the states of Washington,
Louisiana, and North Carolina.
Christina Villiott, C.P.S.M.
Director of Marketing
As EBDG's Director of Marketing, Ms. Villiott oversees the company's
marketing and sales initiatives and promotes EBDG as one of the
leading marine architecture and engineering firms. Ms. Villiott has
over fifteen years of marketing experience in the A/E/C industry, as
well as a background and education in working with the marine
environment. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marine Education
from Fairhaven College at Western Washington University and is a
Certified Professional Services Marketer.
Capt. Michael Walker
General Manager Gulf Office
Capt. Walker heads up the company's first satellite office located in
New Orleans. He began his maritime career sailing ocean tugs, large
private yachts and commercial fishing vessels. His 36 years of
extensive experience in the marine industry and his client-focused
approach make him ideally suited to serving the needs of EBDG's
growing client base in the Gulf Coast region.
John W. Waterhouse, P.E.
Chief Concept Engineer
Mr. Waterhouse is a
founding partner of EBDG and served as its President from the firm's
inception in 1988 through 2008. Today, as part of EBDG's ownership
transition, Mr. Waterhouse now serves as its Chief Concept Engineer
and continues to be an integral part of the leadership team.
As EBDG's Chief
Concept Engineer, Mr. Waterhouse works with the Vice President of
Engineering to improve the vessel design and engineering process and
serves as a mentor for the firm's young engineers. He is an active
member in several maritime professional and technical societies, and
is well versed on regulatory issues. He is extensively published and
several of these items are available in our library.
Mr. Waterhouse
received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley, his
M.S. in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from M.I.T. and is
a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Washington, New
York, North
Carolina and Louisiana.
