STAFF
Elliott Bay Design Group currently employs over 60
architects, engineers, designers and support personnel. The strength
of EBDG lies in the depth and experience of our staff. The core of
our skills resides with our senior engineers who are registered
Professional Engineers in the States of Washington and Louisiana.
Our senior staff members are supported by bright and innovative mid
level and entry level engineers as well as some of the most talented
marine designers in the business today. The combination of extensive
hands-on experience in vessel operation and shipyards, and a
thorough working knowledge of construction practices, allows us to
solve most marine related engineering problems. Recently developed
analytic capabilities allow us to offer our clients more complete
and integrated solutions.
Management
EBDG is managed by two principals: John W. Waterhouse, President and
Kenneth R. Lane, Executive Vice President. Both Mr. Waterhouse and
Mr. Lane are licensed professional engineers with extensive design
experience..
Elliott Bay Design Group's Key Personnel
John W. Waterhouse, P.E.
President
Mr. Waterhouse is the President of EBDG. He received his B.S. in
Mechanical Engineering from U.C. Berkeley, his M.S. in Naval
Architecture and Marine Engineering from M.I.T. and is a licensed
Professional Engineer in the states of Washington, North Carolina
and Louisiana. Mr. Waterhouse is our lead engineer for concept
design, is an active member in several maritime professional and
technical societies, and is well-versed on regulatory issues. He is
extensively published and several of these items are available in
our library.
Kenneth R. Lane, P.E.
Executive Vice President
Mr. Lane has extensive marine industry experience, having worked in
both shipyards and engineering design offices. He received his
B.S.E. in Naval Architecture from the University of Michigan and is
a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Washington and
Oregon. Mr. Lane is our chief project manager, keeping the entire
office's numerous projects staffed and running. He also has a keen
interest in the latest ship building technology, assuring EBDG's
position on the forefront of this ever-expanding area of our
industry.
Brian W. King, P.E.
Vice President, Engineering
Mr. King received his B.S. in Marine Engineering from the U.S.
Merchant Marine Academy and is licensed and has sailed as Chief
Marine Engineer of Motor Vessels of any Horsepower. Mr. King is our
expert on major re-powering and ship modifications, passenger
ferries, and has extensive project management experience. He is a
licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Washington, Alaska,
Louisiana and Oregon.
Douglas M. Wolff, P.E.
Vice President, Operations
Mr. Wolff came to EBDG in 1992, bringing extensive project
management and shipyard experience to the firm. He earned his B.S.
from the Webb Institute in 1977, launching his career in the field
of naval architecture. His many talents and varied experience make
him our resident expert on workboats of all kinds including tugs,
research vessels, fireboats and fishing vessels. Mr. Wolff is a
registered Professional Engineer in the states of Washington,
Louisiana, and North Carolina.
Joseph V. Pritting
Finance Manager
Mr. Pritting joined EBDG in 2000. He holds a Bachelors degree in
Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting. His previous
experience includes serving for 16 years as Controller of two
multi-specialty medical clinics in Montana and Washington. Mr.
Pritting has worked with numerous federal, state and municipal
contracting authorities, as well as commercial clients. As Finance
Manger, he manages the company's financial resources and monitors
each project's progress to guarantee full contract compliance.
Christina Villiott, CPSM
Marketing Manager
As Marketing Manager, Ms. Villiott helps direct the company's
marketing and sales initiatives and promotes EBDG as one of the
leading marine architecture and engineering firms. Ms. Villiott has
over ten years of marketing experience in the A/E/C industry, as
well as a background and education in working with the marine
environment. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marine Education
from Fairhaven College at Western Washington University and is a
Certified Professional Services Marketer.
Michael Walker
General Manager Gulf Office
Mr. Walker heads up the company's first satellite office located in
New Orleans. He began his maritime career sailing ocean tugs, large
private yachts and commercial fishing vessels. His 36 years of
extensive experience in the marine industry and his client-focused
approach make him ideally suited to serving the needs of EBDG's
growing client base in the Gulf Coast region.
