COMPANY HISTORY
Elliott Bay Design Group was established in
1987 when three partners purchased the assets of Nickum and
Spaulding Associates, Inc., a Seattle naval architecture firm with a
sixty-year history of quality marine design. Today, the firm is a
subsidiary of American Commercial Lines and is managed by two of the
original partners, John W. Waterhouse (President) and Kenneth R.
Lane (Executive Vice President). EBDG has continually enhanced this
vast archive of inherited drawings and designs by continually
incorporating the latest skills in the areas of computer aided
design and marine engineering.
EBDG has also expanded its knowledge and
resource base by becoming actively involved in issues and
organizations concerning all segments of the marine industry. A
sampling of these organizations is listed below. Membership in
professional organizations, regulatory committees, commercial clubs
and trade organizations keeps us abreast of the issues concerning
all segments of the marine industry. Several of our staff members
are regular contributors. A collection these papers and
presentations can be found in our library.
