We are currently hiring for the following positions in our Seattle office:

Senior Marine/Mechanical Engineer

The ideal candidate will have a PE license and 12 or more years of experience in engineering ship propulsion and auxiliary systems to regulatory standards. Prior ship engineer operating experience or engineering in a shipyard is desirable. The position includes serving as project engineer for vessel designs and requires the ability to design propulsion shafting systems, shipboard mechanical devices, such as rudder and steering gears, HVAC, heat transfer calculations, and piping systems. Good technical writing skills are required. Responsibilities include writing contract specifications, purchase technical specifications, test memos, engineering reports and proposals. The position includes mentoring less-experienced engineers and providing technical guidance to project managers, engineers and designers. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to represent the company in client meetings and in public presentations.

Structural Engineer

The ideal candidate will have a BS degree and 3 or more years of experience in engineering ship structures to regulatory standards as well as complex structures not addressed by regulation prescription. Your engineered solutions need to be practical and cost effective for construction. Strong writing skills and FEA experience, preferably using Ansys, are essential. A career-oriented individual will have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and may already have a PE license.

Structural Designer

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in designing structures for ferries and work boats up to 300' in length. Your creative design solutions need to be practical and cost effective for construction. Extensive experience with AutoCAD is essential, as is a strong design to deliver a professional and polished product. Experience using Ship Constructor software is a strong plus.

Piping Designer

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in designing piping systems for ferries and work boats up to 300' in length. Your creative design solutions need to be practical and cost effective for construction. Extensive experience with AutoCAD is essential, as is a strong design to deliver a professional and polished product. Experience using Ship Constructor software is a strong plus.

Piping Designer

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in designing piping systems for ferries and work boats up to 300' in length. Your creative design solutions need to be practical and cost effective for construction. Extensive experience with AutoCAD is essential, as is a strong design to deliver a professional and polished product. Experience using Ship Constructor software is a strong plus.

Marine Engineer

The ideal candidate will have a BS degree and at least 3 years of experience in engineering ship propulsion and auxiliary systems to regulatory standards. Your engineered solutions need to be practical and cost effective for construction. Strong calculations and writing skills are essential. A career-oriented individual will have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and may already have a PE license.

Naval Architect

The ideal candidate will have a BS degree and at least 2 years of experience in commercial vessel naval architecture, outfitting and structures. Knowledge of USCG regulations and ABS rules are strong pluses. Your engineered solutions need to be practical and cost effective for construction. Strong calculations and writing skills are essential. A career-oriented individual will have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam and may already have a PE license.

AFTER HOURS

We work together and we play together. Every year we schedule a number of activities that add to the enjoyment of EBDG employment. Below are a few ways in which we have fun:

  • United Way Challenge – EBDG challenges its cross town rival to benefit United Way. So far, we've played pool, bowled and golfed!

  • Fat Tuesday Celebration - NOLA staff enjoys King's Cake and the day off!

  • ZODIAC Trip – Each year EBDG arranges for a day sailing on the S/V ZODIAC.

  • Company Picnic – This annual event has moved to a river front location. EBDG employees and family members spend the day enjoying the outdoors, picnicking and competing in our annual Croquet Tournament.

  • Oktoberfest – We sample bratwurst and beer, make music and hold a dart tournament.

  • Holiday Party – To celebrate the holidays we enjoy a festive meal at one of Seattle's top restaurants or yacht clubs.

In between the above events we experience random acts of celebration and camaraderie. And did we mention that EVERY Friday is Treat Day?
